True School Spirit

True+School+Spirit

Conrad is known for having school spirit but do we have true school spirt? Not all the sports games, clubs and activities get equal support.   There are many times when there isn’t a large crowd to cheer on the soccer games or volleyball.  Those who do come and support the favored activities i.e. Basketball, Baseball and Football, are greatly appreciated but Conrad needs to build up their support crowds for other teams as well. We have many clubs that don’t get a crowd and sadly it creates a separation, cliques if you will, in our school. In the name of spirit or support for one club, we tend to want to shame or shun those who don’t quite fit into the COOL group.

Charles de Lint, a Canadian Urban Fiction writer said it most eloquently:

“I don’t want to live in the kind of world where we don’t look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I can’t change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.”
― Charles de Lint

Can’t we as a small diverse group of teens, rise above the need to segregate by skill, power or popularity and come together as one?
