Emma González, a senior who survived the Parkland High School shooting that took place in February of 2018. Emma González speaks to the crowd during the “March for Our Lives” rally in support of gun control in Washington. She then begins timing six minutes and twenty seconds — the time it took a gunman to kill 17 students and teachers; during this moment of silence, tears pour down Emma’s face as well has many other people in the crowd. Emma then ends her speech with the powerful statement; “Fight for your lives before it’s someone else’s job”.
