Recent outrage regarding the arrests of two African American men in a Philadelphia Starbucks led the Company to announce Racial Bias training that will soon commence in over 8,000 different locations. Police state the two men who entered the store asked to use the restroom but were denied and asked to leave because they weren’t paying customers.

The two men sat down and said they were waiting for their friend and this lead a store employee to call local authorities. The arrest was filmed and this instigated protests at the stores location to have it closed down. These protests eventually garnered a response from the company who claimed the situation was “abhorrent”.

“I’ve spent the last few days in Philadelphia with my leadership team listening to the community, learning what we did wrong and the steps we need to take to fix it,” Kevin R. Johnson, the company’s chief executive, said in a statement announcing the training.
