On March 13, a 45 Year old women and her 18 Month old baby were found dead. They were discovered lifeless inside a unit of the Stonehurst Garden Apartments on the 100 block of Richards Avenue in Newport according the County police.  The woman’s name is said to be Laura Connell and her son Walton Connell. Laura’s death was ruled a suicide by gunshot but according to investigators Walton was not shot. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science had to further investigate the case. It was said that the deaths occurred just hours before Connell was supposed to appear in family court. Laura’s sister Andrea Bender was supposed to pick up the two and drive the pair to the  family court Wednesday morning so Connell could surrender the baby to his father. She then explained to the County police that Laura did not come out, so she went in to get her and as she walked in the apartments she found the horrific scene. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science and New Castle county police have not yet released any information on the cause of death on the 18 month old, though they have classified the death as suspicious.
