On Tuesday, retail giant Walmart and energy company Tesla recently settled a lawsuit over defective solar panels. On the roofs of over 240 Walmart stores is Tesla made solar panels. However, earlier this year, seven of Walmart’s stores caught fire because of these panels, prompting Walmart to accuse Tesla of being negligible with installation of the panels. The retail chain also demanded that Tesla shoulder the cost of removing the panels from its over 240 stores. The lawsuit was under an alleged breach of contract on Tesla’s part for the bad quality panels. Among other complaints, Walmart also added that when Tesla deployed individuals to inspect the panels, they found that those individuals lacked “basic solar training and knowledge”. Not long after, Tesla’s stock dropped a bit once the lawsuit came to light. In a joint statement released on Tuesday, Walmart and Tesla seemed to have smoothed things out. “Walmart and Tesla are pleased to have resolved the issues raised by Walmart concerning the Tesla solar installations at Walmart stores. Safety is a top priority for each company and with the concerns being addressed, we both look forward to a safe re-energization of our sustainable energy systems.”
