A 31-year old woman died near Harmony Road in Ogletown. According to Delaware State police, she died while crossing the west lanes of a state highway. After being hit, she landed in the east lanes of Del 273. The police said that the woman did not use a crosswalk. The woman was also wearing dark clothes and was not wearing any reflective material, which made it hard for someone to see her. She was immediately taken to Christiana Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver was 21-years old, but he did not sustain any injuries in the crash. Police mention that some form of impairment on the driver’s behalf was not a factor in the crash. Del 273 was closed between Harmony and Brownleaf Roads for about three hours after the incident. Later on, police identified the victim of the accident as Sherry White. She unfortunately died due to the severe injuries she sustained after being struck by the car.
