So far, vaccines have been reserved for essential workers and senior citizens, as the vaccine doses were few and far between. But as more and more are being shipped, and more and more essential workers have been vaccinated, they have begun to loosen the criteria for the vaccine. Now, certain workers from age 16-64 with a high risk for the virus are being invited to get vaccinated. The same holds true for workers who are not high risk, although they must be 50 or older. Those who are now eligible for the vaccine include poultry workers, food manufacturers, port workers, Amtrak workers, grocery and other food service workers, restaurant workers, farmers and agricultural workers, personal service employees, veterinarians, and higher education staff as well as county and local governments. Starting today, (Mach 23) people will be able to register to get vaccinated, rather than waiting for an invitation. Hopefully, in the future, students will be included in the vaccine distribution.
