Doctors would put off girls’ and women’s symptoms to female hysteria or depression because many doctors believe that ADHD and many other disorders only appear in men. ADHD for example presents differently in females than in males.  Women have been misdiagnosed because of the medical field gender bias thinking that ADHD was a man’s disorder.  Countless women go misdiagnosed because of gender bias. Doctors’ ignorance, not believing their patients, and not listening leads to the percentage of women’s misdiagnosis going up. Doctors would never not believe a male when it comes to their health, gender bias. Gender bias isn’t just not having enough research on women but that women are still not taken seriously, even when it comes to death from medical problems. Yes, over the years the gender bias in the healthcare gap has improved, but there is still a big difference between male misdiagnoses and females.
