September 23 marks the first day of Fall for the United States! This day means unlimited amounts of pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks and a surplus of pumpkin spice candles from Bath and Body Works. But besides this, there are other ways to enjoy fall without spending money, and I’ve got some tips to give you a cozy but spooky fall season!
- Enjoy the foliage- Going outside or taking a walk to enjoy the foliage is a great way to enjoy the fall season! Giving yourself the time to look at the changing foliage as the season gets colder can give you a sense of relaxation and tranquility; just don’t forget to bring a jacket! If you’re lucky, I recommend the northern parts of Delaware, such as Brandywine Creek State Park, or even your backyard or local park.
- Watch a spooky (or regular) fall-themed or Halloween movie- Watching movies can help you enjoy the vibes that fall gives throughout September and through the end of October to Halloween! I recommend The Shining and A Nightmare on Elm Street for those who want that authentic spooky feel, or The Nightmare Before Christmas (is this even a Halloween movie?) or Coraline for those who don’t like it as much.
- Try to cook up some spooky treats with ingredients you already have- Cooking up some spooky treats with ingredients already in your house can also spruce up the aesthetic for fall. Cooking up some sugar cookies with just a few elements, such as sugar, flour, and vanilla extract, can give you a sugary treat for the season while not spending extra money!
- Play some funky, spooky music- If you want to get in the season, the best way is to put on some music to get yourself into the season! I have a custom playlist ready on Spotify, or you can browse your own if you have a different vibe!
- Trick or treat if you can- Even creating a low-effort costume can still get you excess amounts of candy from your local neighborhoods, or you can help out the little ones with their trick-or-treating if you think you’re too old (you’re not.)
- Just enjoy it- Enjoying fall all around, if you go all out or just do it as is, is still a great way to enjoy the season. Plus, who doesn’t love the smell of pumpkin pie?
