On February 5th, 2024, around the time of 1:00 p.m., Delaware State Troops were notified about a felony assault that occurred at George Read Middle School, in New Castle County.
The investigation revealed that a 12-year-old student had used a box cutter to allegedly assault an 11-year-old student in class and then was removed from the classroom by teachers. Youth Aid Detectives shared that the victim was brought to a local hospital and was treated for an injury to his face.
After two days, on February 7th, the 12-year-old deliberately turned herself in and was charged with the following: Second-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during a felony, and Carrying a concealed deadly weapon. As of today, there is no new information on this investigation.
