This summer breakdancing made its first appearance in the 2024 summer Olympics. Australia’s female breakdancer, Rachael Gunn, sparked the most controversy for her performance. People on social media began a trend mocking the Australian breakdancer for how she danced, most posts saying, “How the heck did she make it in the Paris Olympics,” or simply doing the same dance that she did as a show that they can do exactly what Gunn did or better. Though Rachael Gunn responded to the hate saying “I worked my butt off preparing for the Olympics, and gave it my all, truly,” social media still thinks they can not qualify for the next summer Olympics.
