A junk dealer found a rolled-up painting and thought it had no true value. Later on, he gave the painting to his wife in a cheap frame when he passed and his wife hung it up on the wall of their home for 50 years and later on their family-owned restaurant. Their son went to school one day and saw “Buste de femme Dora Maar” in an art history textbook. He went home that day and told his parents it might have value, they contacted many art historians but kept saying the art wasn’t authentic but still offered to take it off their hands. The family was suspicious that it might have been stolen artwork so they called the Patrimony police but the police let them keep it since Picasso’s signature was not authenticated. Time passed and a graphologist for a patrimony court in Milan was able to certify Picasso’s Signature. The painting has since been locked up in Milan since 2019.
