An “increased police presence” on Victoria Avenue near Newport has resulted in at least one school potentially implementing “soft” lockdown procedures, New Castle County Police said May 19.The incident is contained to a home in the 300 block of Victoria Ave. and there’s currently no threat to students, police said. However, local schools were notified of the incident given the home backs up to Conrad School of Science’s campus. Police said residents in the area will see police and “the possibility of other emergency vehicles in the area.” Victoria Avenue will be closed from Jackson Avenue to Surrey Avenue
