May 19, 2025 a truck of baby chicks was found but it satrted on May 2. The Delaware Department of Agriculture got a call from the Postal Service that said it had “an undeliverable box of baby birds.” There, they found 4,000 dead chicks and 10,000 living ones abandoned in a delivery truck, according to a news release from the Delaware Department of Agriculture. They also found turkeys, geese, quail and chukars, state agriculture officials said. The birds were supposed to be shipped to many states, at least 2,000 were intended to be delivered to Washington according to the Delaware Department of Agriculture. The postal service is unaware of what exactly happened. The truck was “checked for appropriate transportation of live animals” but the chicks were still found dead or starving.
