As of September 16, 2025, Many students have been dress-coded for the color grey. Some never even knew that grey wasn’t in the dress code. But all have the same question. Why?
In the class I’m currently sitting in, there are numerous students wearing grey. So I experimented. On my way to lunch, I counted how many students were wearing grey. There are a total of 17 students wearing the color grey, be it hoodies, shirts, etc. That was just from my trip to the water fountain, which took around 1 minute. This shows that grey is a recurring color in Conrad, and should be considered to possibly be allowed in the school dress code. Other students add that the color grey is a solid color, therefore it falls under the dress code, as seen below. What I think is that as long as it is a sweater, sweatshirt, fleece top, or even Conrad spirit wear, it should be okay. But to counter my claim from before, I’m going to say that if it is a sleeveless top, a large logo, frayed/ torn attire, or just anything offensive, like curse words, or anything inappropriate, it shouldn’t be allowed, but if not, then we should just let the students wear grey hoodies; they’re not hurting anyone.
Student opinions:
- Dar’quan Abdul Saleem Connor (11th Grade) says that it’s not fair because our school mascot has grey in it.
- Terrence Moore-Clark, J.R. (11th grade), believes that it is just plain unfair, as the color does not hurt anyone, as well as the fact that our mascot has grey.
- Thomas McGrory, (11th Grade) Thinks it is dumb, we should be allowed to wear grey because it is not a vibrant color that does not cause distractions.
