41 fatalities and a monumental total of 8,176 wildfires, the California wildfires have caused a big explosion in the West Coast State. The California fires are usually a natural occurrence every year, the only problem is California’s population growth. More and more residential’s are being built near areas with high risk of wildfires, and all the houses that are clustered together spread the fire faster. “Human-started wildfires accounted for 84% of all wildfires, tripled the length of the fire season, dominated an area seven times greater than that affected by lightning fires, and were responsible for nearly half of all area burned,” says a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academies of Science, making us all the more sure that humans have a large part to blame for the changes in weather.
