On November 28, 2017, London media announced that the royal prince proposed to Megan Markle. The young lady is taking up British citizenship and will be baptized as an Anglican in the Church of England. Ms. Markle will be the first American to marry into the royal family since Wallis Simpson, the divorced socialite whose relationship with King Edward VIII triggered a constitutional crisis and prompted his abdication in 1936.
