During the pandemic, a skyrocketing amount of people have needed mental health services to cope with everyday life. NHS has reported that they have seen double the amount of referrals since the pandemic started. In ages 18 and under, there were as many as 190,271 referrals to mental health services whereas there were only 97,342 referrals in 2019. Data shows that from the beginning of Covid and quarantining, social and emotion stress in ramped up causing mental health issues, along with disorders. Some other countries realize how serious this is, so they’ve invested the equivalent 108 million dollars into their children’s mental health services. The greatest concern is the increase in attempted and successful suicides. Let’s hope that a solution comes soon!
