Yesterday, construction on The Square Kilometre Array began and will finish by 2028. The facility will split across South Africa and Australia, with its headquarters in the UK. It will perform tests on Einstein’s different theories and search for extraterrestrials. The telescope should be able to detect faint radio signals from sources billions of light years away, including ones that were emitted the first hundred years after the Bing Bang. One of its quests will be tracing the history of hydrogen. It should detect its presence from before it even formed the first stars.
