NCAA Rule Change

NCAA+Rule+Change

Recently in NCAA college wrestling there has been new rules added to the rule book. One of the rules added is a 3 point take down when previously it only counted as 2 points. The reason for this change is to create a point differential between take-downs and escapes. To help balance the new take-down rule the top wrestler is required to work towards a near fall or pin. Also a 3 count near fall rule was added when previously it was only 2 and 4 counts. The reason for this rule change was to allow the wrestlers to be more creative in their attempt to earn points.

Although the new NCAA rule changes have been a good idea for many reasons it has sparked some controversial conversations. The reason this has sparked controversy is because there wasn’t a rule change for high school wrestling and a lot of people feel as though high school wrestling and college wrestling are becoming different sports.
