Tropical Storm Ophelia brought dangerous rip currents and coastal flooding to Delaware, New Jersey, and other beaches across the East Coast. The storm also brought drenching precipitation, with Coastal Flood Alerts being issued until Thursday, September 28, 2023, and temperatures dipping below 70 degrees with gusty winds. These pressure fronts, such as Ophelia and other storms along the Atlantic, bring lots of clouds and precipitation, damaging coastal fronts and seeing days with no sun.
Lower pressure systems must also be to blame for most rainy weather. The systems create more pressure than the areas around its center, with the wind blowing towards the pressure, creating air. As the air rises, the water vapor condenses, making clouds and often precipitation.
But is there hope that we will see the sun again?
There is not much of a chance that we could see the sun within the coming days, with today being the slightest day where we could see a slither of the sun, but then with the clouds coming back on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sunday, however, would be the first day of the week where we could see the full sun, ending the dreary days and giving us the most needed perfect fall sunny day!
