Chinese hackers reportedly stole 60,000 emails from 25 different organizations and government agencies such as 10 US State and Commerce Department accounts in East Asia, the Pacific, and Europe. The hackers are believed to have gained access to these accounts through a Microsoft engineer, whose device had been compromised. While the extent of the breach still remains unclear, the repercussions are already being seen. The US blames the Chinese government for being behind the hacks, however, China denies these accusations.
