On September 19, the British parliament had its final debate about the Online Safety Bill which is now ready to be passed into law. The bill aims to protect children on social media platforms from harmful content. This bill also puts the responsibility of finding and removing illegal and harmful content as well as online fraud onto the social media platforms themselves. If they fail to maintain the expectations set in the Online Safety Bill, the platforms may be fined up to 10% of their global annual revenue.
