Icelandic authorities said that on Saturday they were preparing for a volcanic eruption in the southwest of the island. They recently have been experiencing a series of earthquakes and evidence of magma spreading rapidly underground. The probability of an eruption is increasing and could start any time within the next few days. Iceland’s Civil Protection Agency had ordered a complete evacuation of Grindavik overnight, which held around 3,000 residents.
