McDonald’s is opening a new chain named after its alien mascot from the 1980s and early 1990s-called CosMc’s. The first location has a 1980s-inspired theme and is set to open up in Illinois this month. The company plans for global expansions pending the success of the new chain. McDonald’s plans on opening about 10,000 new stores by 2027. CosMc’s is said to fuse a blend of nostalgia and innovation. This chain is going to challenge Starbucks and Dunkin’ by focusing on coffee and drinks. This chain is tapping into the 100 billion dollar beverage market. Classic items like Sausage McMuffin and OREO McFlurry are on the menu along with new items like churro frappuccinos and s’mores cold brews.
