US Senators are attempting to make daylight savings time permanent. Why? Because they say it’s an “inconvenience” and it impacts the economy, energy consumption, and our health. Marco Rubio states “Not putting back the clocks in autumn would enable children to play outdoors later and reduce seasonal depression.” However, critics say that this would force many students to go to school in the dark. Daylight saving time has been in place in nearly all of the United States since the 1960s after being first tried in 1918.
