On March 4th, 2024, U.S. military cargo planes dropped over 38,000 meals along the coastline of Gaza, allowing civilians to access critical aid. However, in a country that consists of a population of 2.3 million people who are facing a severe hunger crisis, the number of meals sent seems drastically insufficient, and is drawing massive amounts of criticism from aid organizations such as OXFAM. The organization calls the operation a “PR stunt,” with Scott Paul, the humanitarian policy lead at OXFAM stating, “OXFAM does not support US airdrops to Gaza …”. Another concern is the hypocrisy that America is being accused of due to the country also sending military assistance to Israel.
