The refugee situation in Libya has taken hundreds of lives and leaving many others in detention centers. An estimated 400,000 to 1,000,000 refugees have been captured and detained in these centers, and have become an outlet for murder, rape, robbery, and now slavery. Those bound for these detention centers are being taken and sold as commodities before they reach the centers, and up until now, most nations have been unaware of the slave trade. Libya has taken action in opening up a transit center for vulnerable refugees to keep them safely housed until they can be sent to another country.
