Last Male White Rhino Passes Away

Imere Garcia, Staff

Sudan (the rhino’s name) spent the rest of his life in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. At the age of 45, he died and the people who took care of him say that his health was worsening to a point where he couldn’t even walk, so the officials made the decision to euthanize him. Sudan was the last wild caught Northern white rhino in captivity. With his death, there are only two white rhinos left in the whole world and they are both females.
