Poland and Bulgaria are getting gas from neighboring countries in the EU after Russia cut them off. This happened because both countries refused to pay for gas in rubies, which is Russia’s currency. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stressed the need for a reliable source of energy in Europe. Bulgaria is in constant communication with the company as supplies are being discussed. Bulgaria’s Energy Minister has said that “it is obvious that in the current situation of war in Ukraine, natural gas is used by Russia as a political and economic weapon”.
