High-ranking medical schools such as UPenn and Stanford revolt against a system that is “based on too much wealth and prestige.” Said schools have now refused to give U.S. news on data they need in order to rank them in this system. The dean of UPenn’s medical school said that the U.S. news encourages students only with high test scores and grades to enroll in such schools when that is inevitably not true. This debate about whether or not schools drop out of the ranking system has occurred at every board meeting for medical educators and needs to stop.
