Late Thursday, March 2nd, a 42-story building caught on fire. The fire showered a shopping district with sparks and debris, lighting the night sky. Many gathered around the neighborhood to watch as explosions took place up in the air. Two people were injured, and firefighters spent nine hours before finally extinguishing the fire at 8:30 a.m. The building was meant to be a redevelopment of Hong Kong’s old Mariner’s Club, located in an area popular with tourists and locals for its shopping and cultural attractions.
