    AI Invitational – Meet Recap

    AI+Invitational+-+Meet+Recap

The girls and boys track & field teams kicked off the season on Saturday at AI HS – in spite of the rain, the Redwolves posted strong early season performances and are showing promise for a great season ahead.

On the track, the day started off with sprint prelims – senior Erin Glanz advanced to the finals in the 100m dash, finishing 4th overall. In the 300mH, junior Rana Jackson finished 2nd overall, earning the first medal of the day, followed by sophomore Karen Tanner in the 800m (2nd), sophomore Alyssa Napier in the 200m (3rd), and senior Mallory Holloway in the 3200m (3rd). The girls wrapped up the day with an exciting 2nd place finish in the 4X4 relay (Karen, Erin, Rana, and senior Emma Jefferson) to contribute to the 44.25 points scored on the day, earning a 4th place finish at the meet. The boys started off strong in the 4X8 relay (senior Ulises Vazquez and juniors Ryan Williamson, Aiden Hawley, and Joey Dello Buono), finishing in 6th to score a point for the Redwolves, and fought hard throughout the day with athletes running in every track event on the schedule.

While the conditions led to cancelled and delayed field events, a few of our throwers were able get some early season marks and Karen Tanner finished 4th in the long jump.

Many of our competing athletes made their Conrad T&F debut yesterday – we are excited about the energy and competitive spirit from this team that combines youth and experience.

Next week, we will be back at AI HS for the N5CTA Invitational. Good luck!
