Japan Humiliates Former World Cup Champions

On Saturday September 9th 2023, The Japanese National team played versus the 2014 World Cup champions Germany in a friendly at Volkswagen Stadium in Wolfsburg, Germany. In the first half Japan led the score with a goal in the 11th minute by Junya Ito. Germany responded with a goal of their own by Leroy Sane in the 19th minute. 3 minutes later Japan got the lead yet again with a goal by Ayase Ueda. The rest of the game would be pretty uneventful until the last 3 minutes when Japan scored a goal in the 90th minute by Takuma Asano and another goal in added time by Ao Tanaka. The game ended in a 4-1 for Japan, humiliating the former World Cup champions. Following the game the German National team fired their coach at the time in response to the huge loss.
