The glaciers in Switzerland are melting at a rapid pace. In the past two years, the mass of the glaciers has decreased by 10%. The amount of ice lost in those two years was the same amount lost in the time between the years 1960 and 1990. Experts say it’s because of the rising global temperatures combined with the low snow levels of this past winter causing the melting speed to increase. Some glaciers have gotten so small that they aren’t even monitored anymore, or are entirely gone.
