In the coming weeks, 3 hospitals in Alabama will stop delivering babies. In counties Selby and Monroe, some will have to drive 35 to 100 miles in labor for a hospital. This could make some situations a huge risk. Alabama has the highest mortality rate and the 3rd highest infant mortality rate. Some say this is gonna cause people to show up in the ER already delivering babies. This closure has been decided due to staffing shortages, and came after careful consideration.
