Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble

This past weekend (1/27/24) we had a huge event happen in Tampa, FL. The annual Royal Rumble was presented by WWE, with only four matches scheduled it was surprisingly long and entertaining. The night kicked off with the Women’s Royal Rumble match that featured the debuting Jade Cargill, who signed with the WWE in September 2023. The winner of that match was Bayley, she was entrant 3 out of 30 and now holds the record for the longest time spent in the match. The following match was a Fatal Four-Way for the Undisputed WWE Championship. It featured the champion Roman Reigns defending against the likes of LA Knight, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton! Reigns retained the title pinning Styles after a vicious spear. The 3rd match was for the United States Championship which was between champion Logan Paul and challenger Kevin Owens. Sometime in the match, Paul went to cheat and use brass knuckles which Owens disarmed and actually used them himself, resulting in DQ loss and Logan Paul retained the title. The last match of the night was the 30 man Mens Royal Rumble match. It was pretty fun with the final two men turning out to be the Cult of Personality, CM Punk and the American Knightmare Cody Rhodes. After a decent scrap the two went back and forth before Rhodes threw Punk out, winning the 2024 Royal Rumble. Cody Rhodes won back to back rumbles 23’ and 24’, he is just the 4th person to do that in WWE history and the 1st in 26 years to accomplish the feat, the last to do this was the legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Road to Wrestlemania 40 is now underway with 67 days until they come to Philadelphia for the showcase of immortals.

What’s up, My name is Chase and I’m a senior at Conrad. I have been here since 6th grade so going on 7 years here now. I try to work a decent amount and I also try to go to after school events or games going on. My pathway is Biotech and I’m currently in my 4th year of that. My favorite school subject is history, especially APUSH. The reason I chose journalism is because I wanted to improve upon my writing skills and becoming more comfortable with people reading my work and what I write. I love reading and talking about sports, so I’d assume that would be my favorite but I’d love to branch out.
