Changes are coming to Delaware schools as a lawsuit is filed. Delaware schools have been accused of affluent, or wealthy, children instead of children living in poverty. Gov. John Carney and some civil rights groups were the ones that settled the lawsuit against Delaware education officials, with civil rights groups arguing that state officials know that they aren’t giving all children a good education. The lawsuit was first filed by Delawareans for Educational Opportunity and the Delaware NAACP. At the time of the lawsuit, Delaware was one of four states that didn’t give additional funds to English language learners.
