President Joe Biden is one of Delaware’s favorite sons — just not so much when his visits the First State to clog up roads, which often occurs during rush hour. Since becoming president, Biden has visited Delaware 14 times, causing nearly hour-long congestion as his motorcade travels from New Castle Airport to his Greenville home on Fridays. The same occurs on his return to the airport on Sundays.
Biden’s visits to Delaware usually mean stretches of roads, including Interstate 95, are closed while his motorcade is moving. In the 14 visits, the closures have averaged 26 minutes, according to times provided by the Delaware Department of Transportation. Biden’s March 1 departure to Washington, D.C., had the longest roadway closings, clocking in at 53 minutes, while his most recent departure, on Monday, had the shortest closure time of 13 minutes. Going forward, maybe Joe can rethink his JAM.
