Bad Apples? - Actually Onions

The CDC (Center for Disease Control) issued a statement on October 20th, 2021 stating that fresh whole onions were linked to an increasing salmonella outbreak. So far, there have been 652 cases of salmonella linked to these onions, with 129 of 652 being hospitalized for their condition. Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain.  According to the CDC, the contaminated onions were red, white, and yellow onions that were imported from Chihuahua, Mexico, and were distributed by Prosource Inc. These onions were dispersed by grocery stores and restaurants. 37 states have reported onion-linked salmonella.
