Drug Approved to Reduce Heart Attack and Stroke Risk

Drug Approved to Reduce Heart Attack and Stroke Risk

The FDA has approved a drug that will help reduce people’s risk of heart attacks and strokes. This drug is called Wegovy, it’s a weight loss drug. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. They did a clinical trial with about 17,000 adults. Those had a history of heart disease and were overweight. Doctors are hoping that this label will help persuade employers and insurances to get on board to cover this medication. Wegovy contains an active ingredient called Semaglutide which is in most weight loss and diabetes drugs.
