On Friday September 8th, Rob Naylor officially announced  that he has put in a license request for this years musical performance. Posting in the “Conrad High School Drama” group on Schoology,  he states “I have officially put in a license request for a show. That doesn’t guarantee we get it, but the likelihood is high. I expect to get approved.” later in the comment confirming the license request in question “I can’t wait to begin our adventure…. …Into The Woods.” Auditions are expected to begin in early November, so it is suggested that all students interested in performing this year should begin viewing the play and practicing. The play itself is expected to be performed on the last weekend of January and the first weekend of February.

Into The Woods is the story of a baker and his wife who are childless as the result of the curse of a once-beautiful witch . Three days before the rise of a blue moon, they venture into the forest to find the ingredients that will reverse the spell and restore the witch’s beauty. Popular fairy tale characters such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack make appearances in the play as side characters who the protagonists meet along the way. Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine were joint creators of the project and since it’s inception it has went on to be nominated for various awards.

This play will be hard on the heels of Conrad’s rendition of Little Shop Of Horrors which was very well directed and performed. I’m very excited to see what Conrad’s Drama department has in store for us this year.
