Oyster Decline In Texas Due to Climate Change

Oyster+Decline+In+Texas+Due+to+Climate+Change

Texas has closed the majority of its public oyster reefs for harvesting due to the declining populations. This is the second year in a row that this is happening. Wildlife officials say that the reason for these declines is because of the extreme weather events fueled by climate change and overharvesting. This is not good for the oystermen who make a living off of them, these closures mean to hit their business. According to scientists, they estimated that at least 85% of the world’s oyster reefs have been lost.
